Wet  landscape, Lages, oil on card, 18 x 16.5 cm

Five pictures from a recent trip to Lages.

Lages is not one of Santa Catarina`s most charming towns. It feels run down and rough. Perhaps this is partly because it is a garrison town or perhaps it is because of the large Gaucho presence there. I must add that everyone I met there treated me very nicely. But there is, nonetheless, this rough atmosphere there.

This stuff is bloody strong, said Mumbo.
Jesus, I said.
Oh God, said Mumbo.
I know. I said. Don't look at the wallpaper.
Oh fuck, said Mumbo.
I know.
Jesus, said Mumbo.
Oh God, I said.
Pass it over, said Mumbo.

Pixies play football with the head of a social worker

Pixies play football with the head of a social worker, oil on card, 16 x 18 cm

Wherever the Pixies went, they left mayhem.

A social worker, a good, kind-hearted person, went to see them.

But even she, in her muificent goodness, was not spared. Now the Pixies use here head for a football.

Such behaviour is very wrong. But it seems that the pixies have no conscience whatsover.

The Return of the Pixie

The Return of the Pixie (detail)

At first there were rumours: murmerings of fear in the frontier provinces. There were a series of strange incidents and a sensation of dread was everywhere. The authorites were dismissive at first: these incidents were sporadic: mere coincidence or happenstance, they said.

But eventually it became obvious, even to them: the pixie had returned. A state of emergency was declared.

We are friends

We are friends, oil on card, 18.5 x 16 cm

We are friends.

"We are friends."
"Yes we are."
"We sit and talk to each other."
"You talk and I listen."
"Yes I do. And then I talk and then you listen to me."

"It`s so nice that you have come."
"It`s so lovely to be here."
