Savage Grace (2007): review: 9/10

A wealthy American couple seperate. The wife becomes fixated on her son, the husband steals his girlfriend.

Alas, all these shenanigans end in tears.

This is a marvellous, claustrophobic celebration of an unusual family, brilliantly acted and very tense.

Chloe (2009): review: 6/10

Icy Toronto: a woman hires a prostitute to discover if her flirtatious husband is susceptable to having an affair.

This, as we discover during the film, is a very foolish thing to do.

Well acted and swiftly directed, if somewhat formulaic.

A Single Man (2009): review- 7.5/10

A bereaved British homosexual lecturer in California meets a Spaniard and a charming student: both help cheer him up: his neighbour is less successful.

The film is occasionally moving: the art direction seems to be the main thing, however, with elegant architecture, clothes, accessories and people.
