Flowers in a container, Canasvieiras

As well as abandonment - the placing no longer desired items in public places, there is also a fair amount of adornment in Canasvieirias- usually of plants.

A cylindrical piece of wood, Canasvieiras

Many strange things can be seen in this neighborhood.

Grass

Above, I thought it looked like a prawn. I couldn't decide if it might be better to present the image  horizontally or vertically.

 Ergo: both.

Small brush

The small brush was bought a few years back in one of the crappiest supermarkets here- Supermercado Rosa.

I love holding this brush. The handle is a clear, firm shape- decisive. But it isn't cold. I  like to feel the bristles , how they are almost sharp on my fingertips.

Chair

There seems to be quite a bit of discarded furniture round here, often on the pavements, otherwise in the unused lots that sometimes punctuate houses.

There's something strange about indoor furniture outside. To me there idea of furniture has something to do with permanence, apart from maybe garden and camping or beach furniture.

But this type of furniture does for me to imply settlement, belonging. It really shouldn't be outside,  should it?

And the fact of it being overturned is somehow disturbing. On its back, it has been pushed over, or fallen, like a drunk, and no one has righted it. Undignified,  disturbing even. And because so many must pass this place and done nothing, it is worse: local society doe not care about order. Has it lost its compass?

Additionally, the  rattan seat lends the  chair a quaintness. It's a reminiscent of van Gogh's famous chair: it has personality and the abandonment has an personal aspect.

An apple on a wall, Canasvieiras

An apple on a wall, Canasvieiras

This was seen a a street down from here.

What does it mean?

It's unlikely that the apple is there for target practice as guns aren't common here and, anyway, if you were to shoot from any direction you'd surely hit a building or a window or something.
