Another essay in Pointillism: my Pointillism is not at all pure, my dots vary in shape and size, and I use colour mixes. 

My thoughts today are that the paper becomes very important in in this style. 

Also, that accumulations of many tiny movements have considerable power.

My pointillism...

Here, my pointillism is more "correct": the dots are small, and their size range is lower. I don't use any lines.

 I want to go up a brush size for the next.

This picture took ages to paint, though it was entirely an enjoyable, -indeed soothing- process. I can see why the restrictions of pointillism lead to a reimagining of colour and of brush mark. It's very radicalising in a patient way.

These cartridge  papers can take" overlapping" washes or  watercolour brush marks of up to about three layers before the surface becomes too dense and lifeless. 

The pointillist method uses very minimal overlapping and the picture retains freshness.

 Working in such a methodical manner is very relaxing.
