I feel that the paintings became too dependent on a high key palette, based on mixing down colours with Titanium white. I developed a process based on this. The negtive side is that paintings can look chalky, pallid.
I have been trying to work first from paint which is not mixed and lightened in this way, and to start with much brighter deeper colours.
Obviously, this is going to be easier in certain situations in which the motif is already deep or bright.
